Premiere of Pour ne pas désespérer seul by Joane Hétu

The premiere of Pour ne pas désespérer seul by Joane Hétu, took place in Vancouver, Roundhouse Arts Centre, on Saturday, November 12, 2011, 8pm in the annual concert Hear it Now titled Phoenix Rising. The piece was commissioned by Coat Cooke for the Orkhestra Futura Vancouver and the Canada Council for the Arts has supported the creation.

Orkestra Futura took a west coast tour of francophone jazz-sensibility with player-composers Joane Hétu and Rainer Wiens, further flexing its potential for genre-bending with the addition of vocal gymnast, DB Boyko. Collectively under Coat Cooke, all were under-over-and-outstanding!” — Kedrick James
