Georgia Spiropoulos

Georgia Spiropoulos studied classical piano, harmony, counterpoint and fugue in Athens and worked as a performer and transcriber of Greek aural-tradition music. She moved to Paris in 1996 where she studied composition and electroacoustic music with Philippe Leroux, form analysis with Michaël Levinas and computer music at IRCAM; she has also pursued advanced studies in social sciences at EHESS. She won the Villa Médicis Hors les murs grant for the USA and has been made knight of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres of the French Republic.
