The Roger Collection
This project is part of the Rencontres musique écrite, musique improvisée
event presented by Codes d’accès. Danielle Palardy Roger was given “carte
blanche” for the evening. Marie Pelletier is her guest. Three new works will
be premiered, including one work in collaboration.
The program:
- Le caillou, le cristal et le camion de Danielle Palardy
Roger
- PRN, requiem de Marie Pelletier
- Le cadavre exquis était bien arrangé de Danielle Palardy Roger
and Marie Pelletier
Danielle Palardy Roger’s influences come from “musique actuelle,” while
Marie Pelletier’s are rooted in contemporary music. One’s work is a call for
engagement in creative music, while the other’s is the perfect example of a
playful, theatrical form of music. Their meeting is a space for lively
exchanges between the creative impulses of the musician and the composer.
This meeting project between two very different composers also provided
the starting point for what would become the Ensemble SuperMusique, an
ensemble entirely devoted to “musique actuelle.”

The Labrosse Collection
An installation/performance based on the points of the compass.
The musicians are grouped in the middle of a spatialized sound space,
while the audience can move freely around them. To the north: crackling. To
the South: sliding. To the East: whispering. To the West: banging. This
sequence of points is developed without a compass, with all ears at 360
degrees. An experiment on the relationship between acoustics and
amplification.
Déboussolé was premiered on February 22, 1998, at Radio-Canada’s Studio
12, for the radio program Le Navire Night.
