Scott Thomson: BELGOrientation

BELGOrientation is a unique concept bringing together 30 music and dance artists. The audience is invited to take a tour of the four top stories of the magnificent BELGO building. With the help of a score/tour guide (like a rallye map), audience members will proceed from one performance spot to the next, following a schedule that allows them to attend fourteen concerts/performances (between 2pm and 4pm) forming a single evolutive work entitled BELGOrientation. Current languages in music, dance, and visual arts will merge to provide the audience with an unusual experience.The circuit starts at 2pm with the first performances in the first performance spaces, followed by other performances beginning at 20-minute increments in other spaces. Each performance lasts 15 to 20 minutes. The work’s structure is a juxtaposition of improvised instrumental duos, trios, quartets, and choreographies. The audience will move from set to set, each member being able to follow the path laid out or alter it, according to his or her availability and preferences.
